      Anderson is an institution with some talented researchers and physicians but plagued by a slow and inept bureaucracy.

      Flexible schedules, great diversity of opportunities, decent benefits, equitable and widespread information technology access, great research library, interesting invited speakers.

      Inconvenient and expensive parking, numerous unprofessional colleagues, unending compliance requirements, crippling bureaucracy, inadequate compensation, cramped working spaces, fractured information technology support.

      M.D. Anderson is huge so you get plenty of support.

      Very political. Your growth development and promotion depends heavily on how politically savvy you are, not on how well you do your job.

      Great for cancer care and research, not so great if you're an IT professional

      Pros

      Great benefits/retirement plans, very rewarding to work for the best cancer center in the country, very secure employment, great work-life flexibility, start at 4 weeks vacation/year and increase from there.

      Cons

      Very bureaucratic and top-heavy. Executive leadership is reactionary and lacks vision. IT-wise, we're in the dark ages. IT implementations always run long and over budget, largely due to a lack of talent. Overstaffed/underskilled.
