Pros

After reading the Glassdoors 2019 best places to work I was curious to see what MGAC were rated at and was honestly surprised at some of the lower ratings! Here's what I can share: I've been working with MGAC for almost 5 years, it's a very entrepreneurial company that work on a host of amazing projects across the US and Canada. It's especially a great place to learn and work if your a young/mid level professional. The opportunity to work on cool projects is most definitely there if you want it. If you have a go-getter attitude that wants to work on some of the best projects, it's certainly a good place to work. It has been for me. My thoughts on leadership - The President is a very personable guy and Managing Director for our team has always been open and there for me if I needed. I have not worked closely with other leadership members but anyone who I've met has been great, again very personable. They host an annual conference and holiday party where they bring all offices together for a weekend in DC. Always a good catch up and fun to meet to new team members that have joined that year.

Cons

Nothing has bugged me enough that it's worth sharing. I'm sure like every company there's improvements that can be made in areas. Nothing I've been to exposed to to comment.

Pros

Competent people work here. Benefits are on point. Salaries and raises depend on who your supervisor is and what clout they have. Generous matching on 401Ks/Profit sharing. Great opportunities to attend client soft openings. Pet friendly.

Cons

In general, I like working here, but have reached my career ceiling. There's no room for advancement. For some reason, all true managerial/VP positions in the recent past have gone to people outside of the organization. (That's great for all of you considering employment here, but not for us employees.) One of three things generally happen once they are hired: 1.) They either fail spectacularly by trying to change the organization too much/given a mandate that they cannot as one person fulfill and are forced out; 2.) They suck up to the big bosses and politically become unpopular and power hungry; or 3.) Given a title but no power to back it up. They tend to stick along longer, but like me, get stuck in a career rut. All of the above creates uncertainty, sloppiness and tension within the ranks that does not have to exist. Congrats to those who get hired to managerial positions. You will have about six months to prove yourselves, and then you'll be thrown to the wolves. For those who are coming in more entry level, you will learn a lot, get to do some cool projects, and earn some real money, but this is not an organization where you will likely build a career. It's more of a stepping stone to bigger things.
