Pros

Smart people, interesting research, good hours

Cons

Not super dynamic/older demographic. Very flat structure so not much room for younger folks to get promoted

Pros

Excellent work-life balance (most people work ~40 hours/week max), interesting projects based in defense that you would never see otherwise, interdisciplinary work, support for learning new skills or experimenting with fields that interest you

Cons

Funded by the government, so wages will be significantly less than private industry. They also don't focus on retention for younger hires (bachelor's only) and provide little to no options for career progression unless you get a graduate degree.
