Pros

Excellent benefits, Gym access, huge number of club sports. Free tuition to take one class per semester. Minimal paperwork. Constant free food and lectures.

Cons

Boston is cold. Housing in the area is very expensive. There are no real cons other than this one, sorry.

Pros

This is an amazing place to undertake consulting and depending on whom your PI is it can be a very good opportunity.

Cons

Boston/Cambridge is expensive. You need to supplement your income. MIT does not pay well because there is a 50% tax that goes to the MIT bureaucrats. There are probably at least 3 of them controlling what you do who contribute to the overhead expenses. There are a lot of "Queens and Kings" in every department because of poor leadership from the directors, deans and department heads.

Pros

MIT has a fantastic work environment and the best academic environment anywhere in the world. Highly recommended for a postdoc or a professorship.

Cons

The postdocs here don't have the same sorts of rights that they do elsewhere. A few that come to mind: gym membership costs are the same as staff rather than students, so $500/yr; the salary is a little low; and we have no consulting rights and the IP policy is definitely skewed in MIT's favor.
