Pros

Stability, Low Pressure, High Benefits, Well-Known Organization

Cons

It's Education. You'll have to change jobs for the promotion you deserve. Unskilled workers can do terrible jobs and not get laid off because they value experience over skillset. "Cushy" jobs can produce "lazy" workers.

Pros

Highly dynamic position that requires extensive research experience and broad spectrum of knowledge in various fields. Besides the ability to conduct own research, collaborating with other researchers and supervise graduate students are also part of the duties. Relatively relax and flexible work environment.

Cons

Low salary, and relatively low pressure. Everyone in the academia doing their own job, lack of chance to improve inter-person skills.
