A great place to start a research career. A stimulating research environment (of course), brilliant and kind colleagues, good benefits, and a decent salary for a postdoc. In hindsight, although I worked myself to the bone, nobody was monitoring my hours and so I could have had great work-life balance if I'd wanted.

Progressive upper management that actually wants to create a great organization and wants employees to have a good quality of life. Relatively flexible work arrangement where department managers are given freedom to manage their teams in a way that works best for them.
