Pros

The benefits at MIT are really nice. Insurance costs are very reasonable, free MBTA pass, subsidized commuter rail, generally flexible hybrid schedules.

Cons

Some faculty do not treat their admins well and management values the faculty over the admins.

great place to get a foot in the door, but don't stay too long

Pros

Great benefits. Great people. Fantastic place to start a career.

Cons

Limited accountability. Toxic workplace. Minimal room for growth. Uneven management. Siloed departments and groups. Depending on where you work, pay is limited. Lots of red tape. Hard to make changes. Everything moves at a glacial pace. No prioritization. No (consistent or upheld) standards. Long-term learning/growth/earning potential are capped if you stay too long. Get out before you get too comfortable and realize you're boxed into the role you've got and there is no escape hatch.
