Pros

Good work/life balance. Emphasis on professional development. Stable in job function, longevity, and pay. I get the impression that for admin staff, MIT rewards those who take initiative to get what they want/deserve (but they don't necessarily make it easy). Pleasant social environment.

Cons

For support staff, pay is not the most competitive and it can be hard to feel respected by senior leadership without years of experience. Although they post a low-mid-high pay range, no one is getting paid at the high end if they can help it. Areas of improvement are ignored in favor of the way things have always been done. Senior staff all appear overworked and underpaid.

Pros

Pension, 401k, great healthcare, great benefits and they have programs to help employees during tough times. I love MIT and I have worked for over 40 years in my field at BMC, Joslin, Children’s and MIT best by far.

Cons

Sometimes the department you work in isn’t great but the way MIT treats me, makes up for it
