Smart colleagues but dry culture

Pros

My colleagues at MIT are the most smart ones I ever worked with, especially in the fields of technologies and sciences. Learned a lot.

Cons

Culture is quite dry. People sometimes could be too nerdy. Wish I could get more warmth and empowerment as in other humanities-focused universities.

Pros

World-class research resources and collaborators; strong intellectual environment; access to cutting-edge facilities and seminars; high autonomy and opportunities to publish and build a strong network.

Cons

Mentorship quality varies significantly across groups; workload and expectations can be unpredictable; administrative processes can be slow; work-life balance depends heavily on the PI/lab culture rather than institute-wide norms.
