Excellent benefits, frustrating bureaucracy

Pros

Benefits and collegial feelings are great. Lots of resources, good work, lots of support. People who thrive in rigid hierarchies will be happy here.

Cons

Can be very siloed on administration side, and bureaucracy can be time consuming to navigate. There is often a public way to do something, and then a legwork and politics-heavy way. People who want to work in flexible teams to solve problems may encounter heavy resistance - you'll often encounter the "that's not my job, I'm too busy" runaround. HR is ineffectual and slow, both when I was hiring and when I was firing (or trying to fire).
