Pros

Great benefits, pay, and team work.

Cons

The team I'm in is very anti-the current president of the United States, which is concerning since we do contracting work for the Department of Defense.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I doubt you are the only person having the same thoughts. According to a recent Harvard Business Review article about 25% of people had experienced similar challenges during the last campaign cycle. I imagine it hasn't improved much since. (ref: https://hbr.org/2017/03/navigating-political-talk-at-work) . I have experienced similar frustrations at family events. I think we'd all agree that at work we should talk the business at hand, sports, what we're doing this weekend, but not politics. Kind of like people shouldn't talk politics at a bar, unless they're impersonating characters from the 1700's. If you have tried to curb co-worker's talk by discouraging it in a lighthearted, non-partisan way, I'd recommend you talk with your supervisor, someone in HR, or submit a note to our anonymous ethics portal. In a small team it can be a challenge. In the meantime, I'll recommend we encourage our co-workers to leave politics at the door for everyone's sanity. The company has important work to do and missions to support. Political distractions don't help.

Pros

MTSI employees are owners and they have built a culture, not just a company. MTSI culture is characterized by ethical conduct, respect, integrity and trust. MTSI attracts and retains the absolute best people in this industry. We have a premier benefit plan, extremely competitive compensation packages including bonuses and the most honest and ethical leadership. The best part of MTSI is the people!

Cons

I really can't think of anything that I can genuinely complain about or a major area to improve.

Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback. I agree that our employee-owned culture is unique and important. It's also important that we maintain our culture as we grow. Our core values are discussed often as company decisions are made. I think our benefits are a great example of how we strive to keep our culture intact, even as we hire more people and the company grows and as our industry becomes more competitive. Taking care of great people is at the core of what we do and it sounds like it is going well from your perspective, which is great to hear. Please let us know if you have any suggestions in the future.

Pros

What makes working at MTSI great is the free snacks. I'm kidding, what really makes it great is the clear direction from management that I receive, the sense of teamwork, and the appreciation and respect I receive for a job well done. They clearly value me and my time as an employee. Their top core value as a company is "Employee's First" and I believe it. They make every effort to create a comfortable (ex. free snacks) and collaborative environment in which I can provide an excellent product to my customer.

Cons

The internet speed at the Huntsville office is so slow that it is the single most frustrating aspect of a normal worker's day. If you need to quickly look something up for your job or personal responsibilities, don't expect to find that answer soon. Sometimes, the website that you need to access is too complicated for the slow internet speeds to handle and you simply cannot access it at all. The 3G on my cellphone is faster than this internet connection.

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad that you feel we are living up to our core values and that you feel appreciated and respected at MTSI. We appreciate employee feedback and would encourage you to let us know anytime we can improve. Overall your comments seem very positive, and we're glad to hear that. We understand your frustration with the slow internet connection in the Huntsville office. According to our IT team, the Huntsville office has been unable to cost effectively increase internet speed for a few reasons, including the lack of alternative providers in the fairly new office park location and existing commercial service contracts with our provider. Improvements made by our IT team designed to improve speed have been offset by increasing numbers of employees using the internet. On the upside, this growth has also led to the need to expand the Huntsville office. After the expansion, improved access will allow increased speeds. Our IT team estimates that the Huntsville office's bandwidth will be quadrupled by February. Hopefully, this will help alleviate much of the issue.
