Con 1: My leaving was a classic example of “you don’t quit companies, you quit managers.” My manager was flat out a jerk. This person did not care about the staff, treated everyone like children and not like professionals, and did not want to hear your opinion. The department was run like a dictatorship. It was 100% “my way or the highway.” The proof is a nearly 85% turnover in the department in the 18 months since the manager started. Only one employee hired by the previous director remains. There are two others that remained: one promoted from within (see above), and the other an executive hire (see below). If not for this manager, I could have retired with MTSI.
Con 2: Former hires by an executive. A former executive brought in all former colleagues to run the various departments: Finance, Accounting, HR, and Contracts. All the departments are a complete mess with four of the five hires still there. Until they clean house and bring in fresh blood, stay away from the indirect positions.
