Pros

There are absolutely no pros working for MUFG in the current state of the company.

Cons

My experience at MUFG has been overwhelmingly negative, with numerous issues that potential employees should be aware of before considering a position here. 1. Poor Management: The leadership at MUFG is ineffective and lacks vision. There is a noticeable absence of clear direction for the organization's growth, which is frustrating for those looking to advance their careers. 2. High Turnover: The transition to becoming a U.S. bank was nothing short of a nightmare, marked by numerous layoffs and a significant number of employees choosing to leave on their own. The instability during this time was palpable and added to the stress of working here. 3. Slow Career Progression: Career advancement at MUFG is painfully slow. Promotions are rare and often seem to be based more on favoritism than on merit. This can be demotivating for employees who are working hard and looking to move up the ladder. 4. Low Salary and Benefits: While the pay is considered fair, it falls below industry standards. Bonuses and salary increments often do not meet expectations, which can be disappointing for those who rely on these for their financial well-being. 5. Stressful Work Environment: The work environment is highly stressful. High expectations are placed on employees, and there is a significant lack of proper training for new hires. This can lead to a steep learning curve and additional stress for new employees trying to catch up. 6. Conservative Culture: MUFG has a conservative company culture that is resistant to change. This is especially evident when it comes to adopting new technologies. For a company that should be at the forefront of innovation, this reluctance to embrace new ideas is a significant drawback. 7. Withheld Raises and Merit Increases: MUFG has a policy of withholding raises and merit increases depending on whether you relocate to an office location, even if you were fully remote before. This practice can feel unfair and demotivating, especially for employees who have been contributing effectively from a remote setup. 8. Poor Return to Office (RTO) Policy: The RTO policy at MUFG is another significant drawback. Despite being fully remote before, employees are now mandated to return to the office, often finding that there are not enough desks and facilities to accommodate everyone. Additionally, the RTO policy forces employees to come on-site even when their team members are scattered across different locations, rendering the mandate pointless and hindering true collaboration. This policy adds unnecessary stress and inconvenience, making it hard to see the benefit of being in the office. Overall, working at MUFG has been a challenging and frustrating experience. The poor management, high turnover, slow career progression, low salary and benefits, stressful work environment, conservative culture, unfair policies regarding raises and merit increases, and the poorly implemented RTO policy make it a place I would not recommend to potential employees.
