Pros

-Friendly coworkers at or below my level, only a few above -A big focus on safety in all departments -Quick to implement policies, but mostly reactive to an incident or recommendation from corporate.

Cons

-No negotiation of employment terms whatsoever, you either accept or reject their offer. -High-pressure work environment, and unsanitary at times. -Very tough (almost insane) work schedules, with little vacation time and almost impossible to balance work and life. -Unless you're part of a union, very minimal benefits (which take a large part of your paycheck if you sign up for them). -Attendance policies that are reminiscent of high school (again, depends if you're part of a union). -Lots of mistakes were made as a result of human error in scheduling operators.

Pros

If employed by MV you will only make slightly less than you would on unemployment.

Cons

Lowest pay in the industry Substandard medical insurance coverage for a family $630.00 every pay check !! Terrible working conditions Management is clueless No work/life balance No parking whatsoever !! Required to walk 1/4 mile (to park illegally) while management and other departments have access to parking garage. Often work with no breaks or lunch

Good Job/Difficult People

Pros

The required task for this job is simple and easy to learn (picking up passenger and dropping them off). Shifts go by quickly as you are driving from location to location picking up passengers. The pay is decent for what they ask you to do on your shift.

Cons

The management put many restrictions on you (having to continue to drive during even when no ride is being requested or extending your shift because you decided to take an extra break or go over your time during lunch. You will be penalized if you decline a ride that puts your percentage for the day under the quota so rides from Los Angeles to San Diego, while rare, are obligated as to not get in trouble. While they do require you to work a full 8-hr shift, your last ride could be from one location to another that can take upwards of an hour which could lead to many shifts being over the shift (Not bad for overtime, but some people may want a more consistent schedule for planning their day-to-day activities.
