Better than street compensation, expanding quickly

Pros

Better than street salary + bonus. Good hours compared to bulge-bracket shops. Collegial work environment, I felt that Macquarie is making a big push to expand in the US and friends still there have been able to achieve promotions as soon as they deserve them.

Cons

Regarding the Infrastructure group, I heard (and followed) the advice of many of the younger bankers to avoid starting your career at Macquarie, at least in the USA. You may be pigeonholed as an infrastructure banker. Generally, you're staffed to one live deal at a time and they can drag on, depriving you of good experience and bonus checks!

trip to australia for training--spend two weeks training with other analysts from around the world. on fridays they serve beer

Cons

layoffs happen all too often, recruiters promise offers for certain groups and locations and place you in different ones with out consent

- Good work-life balance - Not that much politic when compared with other companies - flat hierarchy - don't have a lot of reporting lines

Cons

- Not being recognized by the work done - promotion system sucks - uncompetitive remuneration package when compared with other banks for existing employers; pay rise is low
