Pros

Snacks, sodas, off-shore folks. Good salary to make up for the crappy work environment - it's all about kissing butt and parrotting the company line - but no real belief in it.

Cons

Everything you could think off. People go through the motions, but no one cares. Something is broken, but it is not fixed as long as people follow the company line. Mostly incompetent folks in upper management and the real workers get beat down. No opportunities for foreigners to make it past AD, save a few exceptions. Lip-service to diversity, advancement. Local leads completely beholden to Australian decisions; no local autonomy.

Pros

Free food & snacks, fitness reimbursement

Cons

MDs turn a blind eye to continued unprofessional conduct by middle management/staffers. Junior members of teams are constantly chastised for reasons completely unrelated to work product. Despite demonstrated ability to work hard, analysts are looked down upon. Absolutely zero consideration for respecting PTO, funerals, and even serious personal illness; IB industry is notorious for this, but it is especially pronounced here. Certain group-level enforcement (along with corporate endorsement) of "business-as-usual" with zero flexibility for remote work despite Coronavirus concerns, for example, are clear examples of how little the firm cares about the well-being of its employees.

Pros

If you are in the right group, can be a positive experience. Well stocked kitchen. I strongly suggest speaking to someone already working there to find out if the position you are considering is with one of the better groups.

Cons

Their professed culture and values don't apply outside of Sydney, unethical behavior among management, Lack of diversity in leadership by US standards, can be difficult to move between groups, Pay is on the lower end compared to other firms.
