Pros

fair employee discount. you get to know about sales prior to it happening and put things on hold

Cons

not nearly enough people. you have to do the job of 5 people and then part-time workers give you crap for having "go-backs" when they come in for their 4 hour shift. managers ask why the department is messy when youre the only person covering two or more departments macy's corporate is always breathing down your neck, wont give you more people to help and then complain about the customer service score when most complaints are about understaffing

Pros

work life balance, discounts on merchandise, free pizza and taco days, community involvement

Cons

What I disliked the most was - 1. Unless you are deemed a high potential or well-liked by senior management, you're completely on your own. It is really all about who you know since there are alot of office politics at Macys. These people that are selected behind closed doors through an executive committee to be groomed; mentored and fast tracked to management positions. This made it much tougher for the regular staff to get ahead with the company. All the fast tracked people were aggressively recruited to fill positions during the reorganization while a a big majority of everyone else had to fend for themselves. 2. The human resources department has been very error proned when it came to communications with the people that were and have been laid off. Just ask any person that was part of the 7000 layoffs to confirm this statement that I just made.
