Pros

Met great people, quality of product carried, learning experience is amazing, managed million dollar departments and 40+ employees straight out of college

Cons

Lots of layoffs and job cuts lead to decrease in moral. Lack of professionalism, gossip, long hours, poor benefits for medical coverage Holiday hours include schedules til 1 and 2 in the morning. Be prepared to check email and voice mail while on vacation.

Pros

Management is made up of veterans who have high expectations and will push you to do your best work. Environment is collaborative (if somewhat catty at times), and there is significant flexibility to handle personal/medical commitments during less busy times.

Cons

They are notorious for underpaying their executives. Compensation is based on commensurate experience rather than the job title, but performance expectations aren't any lower on account of this. Work-life balance is lowsy considering pay scale. The effects of the economy have really aggravated this because we are all very overworked.

Pros

The consistency of the day-to-day processes is among the best reasons to work for Macy's Logistics and Operations. Very rarely do things outside the norm occur. While this can seem monotonous, there is a sense of security in knowing what needs to be done and processes can be managed very effectively.

Cons

The mentality of senior management is that the higher the stress levels, the more productive managers are and they will work at artificially creating situations just to do so, usually through unrealistic service or financial goals. Retail's busy holiday season is known in advance so do not plan a life outside of work for the last fiscal quarter. Additionally, the abject fear of unions by HR leads to their continual interference in the day-to-day operations.
