Have been told for the last 3 years that raises will not happen due to cost savings and to avoid more layoffs. Yet, they have had several rounds of layoffs, opened a new office, and frequently pay for leadership to travel to events and to the new office.

During onboarding, almost every colleague independently pulled me aside and said some version of: "if there's anything you can't raise through official channels, come to me." That pattern alone says a lot about the internal culture. Onboarding was unstructured and deliberately isolated — new hires are discouraged from reaching out to other team members. Feedback on questions depended entirely on the day — ranging from helpful to "questions like that discredit you, figure it out yourself." Personal conversations with HR were treated as open to scrutiny. Other departments were regularly described in dismissive and demeaning terms. The work culture normalizes serious overwork — 12–13 hour days were the reality despite an official 9–6 schedule, with zero additional compensation. Working on public holidays was common and expected. Going years without a vacation was presented as something to be proud of. None of this is mentioned during the hiring process. I was let go after 1.5 months.
