Pros

The people who work at blur Group are all amazing; smart, ambitious, great at what they do and good to hang out with in and after work. It's a really good concept and blur Group could be a great company - if managed properly.

Cons

Almost shocked by the reviews below, I really cannot recommend working for blur Group to anyone. The company is micro managed by the C-level, which consists of mostly arrogant and deluded people. Opinions or ideas from anyone else are not appreciated and will not be listened to. blur Group makes you work long hours without giving anything in return. Coming in late 5 minutes (after working in weekends and at night) or leaving at 6 is being frowned upon, you get the minimum amount of holidays (20 days), a low salary and no annual company party or extra's. In a timeframe of 6 months I saw at least 30 to 40 people come and go, with offices shutting down in California and hardly anyone left in the Dallas and London office. There's no appreciation or respect for employees and a strategy is nowhere to be found, it's all about pleasing the investors. Revenue numbers are manipulated and do not give a real view of how the company is doing at all. Do not work for this company... unless you are ready to give up on all of your morals, opinions and ambitions...and love Philip Letts of course.

zero, absolutely nothing, worst job i have ever had. No benefits, no commission, lies told, nothing followed up on, more lies, self grandising nonsense every 2 weeks on a conference call,. DO NOT BOTHER

Cons

everything and everyone above YOUR job (apart from a few other poor souls doing their level best) backed up by a deluded egotistical monster in Letts.

Pros

1 day feels like 1 week, 1 week like a month - no 2 days are the same - and you look back over your employment at blur and marvel at how much you've grown personally and professionally. The blur model is an innovative, creative model that is changing the business world for many of our customers. I guess if you don't work on the front-line, you may not always hear about the success stories of people saying things like, "Without blur, my business wouldn't have stood a chance". It's a little more difficult when you're not faced with success stories and accomplishments, every day. I've had the fantastic pleasure of working with an incredible team of people. Some of the best minds in the business - all under 1 proverbial roof, across our Dallas, London and Exeter offices. We are all driven individuals - we're passionate - and we're just downright nice people. We work long days - but working with the folk I do, makes those long days such a pleasure! I'm naturally someone who doesn't expect everything to be handed to me on a plate - and I guess that is what makes my experience with blur different to many of the other reviews on Glass Door. I go out and do stuff. And even though there may be times when things are not pleasant - they are outweighed by the successes of the things I do accomplish - because I choose it. Recognition is lovely, yes, but it's not what drives me. Working at blur has taught me: - The true meaning of customer obsession (in whatever shape, form, size that is) - How to get the best out of a tricky situation and work with the team to overcome challenges. - In the face of adversity - your decision to overcome is much stronger than simply giving up and accepting your fate. - Understanding and identifying the root cause of someone's behaviour, opinion, reason for acting. - The effect that positive validation has on someone (and also the lack thereof)

Cons

If you like comfort, static, never-changing environments, then this is definitely not for you. If you're someone who likes a challenge, who likes to drive themselves to grow (not only in business but in personal relationships too) then blur is a great environment to do that. A disgruntled employee will more often than not, leave a poor review. And it's easy to put a spin on something for it to appear dogmatic, dictatorial and autocratic. The reality is - our nature is to compare. Compare to how it used to be, compare to how others have it, compare to how you think it needs to be. No business is faultless. No business is smooth sailing, and if you really dig deep enough, every single business will have qualities of much that is mentioned in previous reviews. Yes, there are lots of things that we could and should change as a business - and are not dissimilar from many other challenges that other businesses in our growth-phase face - and I only hope that they do change. But, in the meantime - forget about what others can do for you - and think about what you can do for yourself. It's not always down to others to give you something or make you feel a certain way. The reality is that blur is a growing business. It continues to grow. It continues to go through teething problems where we are all learning, as a business, as employees, as management - and unfortunately, if you're not prepared to grow with it, and learn with it, and adapt with it, be honest about it, then this is simply not the environment for you.
