Pros

Great atmosphere, lots of freedom, great co-workers, terrific product, marketing support getting better, not too much micro-management, independent company- able to make their own decisions

Cons

Not a lot of opportunities to move up, they miss a lot of opportunities in the market, pay could be better

Pros

Great high quality product. Flexibility in work schedule. Great place to work when one has a manager who knows how to manage people.

Cons

Unfortunately, management. Most managers do not know how to manage people. More often than not, they are looking for "yes" men and "good ole'boys" who will fit in without asking questions. Communication is very poor - unless you are one of the two mentioned individuals. Tenure and performance means nothing no matter how good or clean your record. Thought provoking questions are encourage - but not really wanted "At Will" company - you can be terminated with or without cause - Makita actually has policies/steps on how to deal with actual employee issues, but managers (especially recently) have been firing employees and making up "cause" just to justify their actions. Moral is low knowing employees have been fired for no real reasons.

Pros

Health Benefits were very good. 401K matching.

Cons

Management is old school japanese style. They want you to sign your life over to the company. Don't think you can change it for a minute. Management wants to know what is going on at all times so you will be required to stop whatever sales you are working on and go do reports. Its always stop what you are doing and fill out this report. Its a chinese firedrill always. They fire the bottom 1/3 and make new hires all the time. When I was there in less than a I was the senior rep in my region out of 12. They turnover almost half the sales force in a year. I shouldn't have to tell you anymore than that. Its sink or swim. Not much support.
