Pros

Manpower is generally a relaxed environment to work in, enough work to keep you busy and productive, but the pressure is kept with management as it should be. Flexible working is good Work life balance is good.

Cons

* Career opportunities are few and far between in Manpower because the older generation don't move on or get removed and they are sitting there on nice old benefit schemes which new started are not allowed to benefit from. Even when they do come up with new jobs high up the chain, they recruit from outside rather than invest in their existing staff, which just makes everything stale. * Manpower are ignorant towards market rates when it comes to paying their staff. Even worse is the lack of training from outside industry experts. * In recent years manpower made the terrible decision to screw over employees, new and old, by trying to force as many as they can onto Jelf "benefits" system * As part of the move to Jelf, health insurance got massively expensive and pension contribution got reduced showing that manpower don't care about their employees * Office is dull, boring and open plan and encourages so much loud chatter. Although Manpower does support flexible working which helps a lot. The lease on the office just got renewed for 10 years which has it's pro's and con's. It would be nice to see a small satilite office made in a more peaceful and healthy green area, away from London. * Backoffice technology is out of date and the only investment they make in technology is for front office tools such as mobile phone apps which are limited at best. This leaves the support office teams suffering as the back office technology isn't in place to handle the new front office tools and data generated by them. It's like building a house with no foundations first. * Zero investment in training staff outside of front office teams. Staff should be given their own training fund pots so they don't keep getting ignored when asking for training at industry standard training courses * Manpower only offers the bare legal minimum number of holidays * Internal recruitment is reliant on you keeping up to date on a yammer social media system. This is possibly the most disfunctional way to manage internal recruitment that you could find. Imagine if the entire recruitment industry was run via social media! You have to have yammer running on your screen all the time and keeping on eye on it, otherwise you'll miss posts. But this reduces your work capacity. * Recent years is just seeing Manpowr constantly making people redundent by reducing the branch network, now reducing our HR team, and expect the rest of the backoffice teams are all going to get reduced and managed across the group as one. Probably made offshore in the case of IT. * The office environment is incredibly sexist in dress code. Men being told to wear shirt + trousers, and on dress down days are told to not wear shorts, but women get away with wearing short skirts, flip flops when ever they like. Such an out of date mentality.
