Pros

Friendly office environment, 'semi' competent managment, those I supported were friendly and knowledgeable (as long as you didn't ask them to step out of their box in any way, shape or form), friendly co-workers (at the same level)

Cons

Management who got their jobs through nepotism, not through any 'actual' job skills ('some' (1-2)were marginally competent as managers, while most were clearly not), those I supported, while appearing friendly and affable, were, at their core, only interested in 'kingdom building', making their own walled empires inside the company, and don't you dare intrude without permission, 'seriously' inadequate benefits (and what was offered was seriously overpriced), Complete inability by Manpower to hang onto the contracts that it aquired (it aquired a five-year contract with IBM from a competitor, and 'so' cheapened 'everything' top to bottom, 'drastically', that IBM cancelled the contract after just one year .. putting 80+ people out of work!)

Pros

You have the opportunity to test out a new career or industry.

Cons

If you are placed in a position that will be long term the benefits definitely are not very good.

Temporary Work or Labor Laundering

Pros

For the right occupation, Manpower may be able to keep you employed long term between several client companies. Work may be more interesting with an opportunity to travel or to get hired direct with a client company you like.

Cons

If you lose your temporary position for a few months, you lose all your built up benefits no matter how long you have worked in the past. Health Insurace is poor, but Major Medical is better the past few years after many complaints. You can end up in tong term emloyment with one client company working for wages without the great benefits, profit sharing, training they provide to their employees. I would call this a labor laundering practice that has become common among temp agencies. Client companies will often low ball your wage if they want to hire you direct.
