Pros

Great retirement benefits, good time off (vacation and sick), decent standard benefits. A growth mindset, keeping technology, innovation, training, and skills modern and relevant.

Cons

Since the new CEO took over the company culture has changed for the worst. I once thought I would retire from Marathon, but after Marry Ann took over as CEO the entire top down outlook changed from fantastic care about employees that we take care of to one of employees are just things that make the business go. They come and go and we don't care about them or their well being any more. Care of employees costs too much. The once supportive, caring management turned into careless value delivery accountants. I saw that growth of the employee was once encouraged and valued but it was dependent on the manager. Some were great at being well rounded and supportive of growth while others were cold to some and welcoming to others and got in the way of growth for those employees they did not "click" with. I was so sad to see such an amazing company change from one that community and employees loved to that of just another profit focused company that has no care for anything but numbers. The working people are no longer the focus, just the result.

Pros

Great pay, good benefits, union job, strong job security, you work 14 out of every 28 days, so half the year.

Cons

Schedule can be demanding, it’s a modified DuPont, so, rotating 12 hour shifts. Lots of time off, but, when OT ramps up, you might be living at work for a few weeks. Oil refineries are dangerous places to be. Everything you work with can kill you if you’re not being careful, and the company absolutely prioritizes profits and throughput. They want YOU to be safe, but they aren’t afraid to cut a corner or turn a blind eye if it means the refinery doesn’t have to shut down.
