      I had a great time working at Markel

      Pros

      I had a great time working at Markel. The team and culture was great. Working in Information Management under Rob was great. I really believe he's taking his group far.The learning experience and the structure of work was great. I really recommend Markel as an employer.

      Cons

      Since the group, I worked under was relatively new, there are obvious growing pains with new hires that should wrinkle out over time. There are very few negatives that I have about working at Markel.

      Pros

      Markel cares about the long term accomplishments of the people and the company. The message is consistent through good times and bad.

      Cons

      Sometimes decisions take too long to get made. People might not be held accountable in ways that would cause them to take affirmative actions and make decisions. It's too easy to just keep going and not rock the boat.

      Intelligent and driven staff, with good work ethics. Supports continued education. Interdependent department's with emphasis placed on collaborations. Management with an open door policy.

      Cons

      Flex scheduling and remote access are limited and discouraged.
