      Technology is up-to-date Great outsource talents

      Cons

      Managers have no idea about team development. A couple of them have real unprofessional issues with many employees. They just look after their performance abusing employees to work overtime and weekends.

      Pros

      Well established company. Doing things right to make good money & keep the company strong. Leaders are down to earth & good people persons. Associates are smart & happy. Salaries are above average & offers bonuses to all employees, which you don't ever see anywhere else. Wonderful work atmosphere, and very nice offices. Work hard & you get rewarded & recognized. Does not micro-manage their EE's, and gives them free reign to work the Markel Style. Good easy atmosphere to work in, making the days go by & lends to a happy staff. Does things with ethics & good standards. Part of the success of Markel.

      Big changes continue

      Pros

      I cannot honestly provide any favorable comments. Staff and strategy changes make Company so different from the profit-maker of the past.

      Cons

      For the past decade the Company has chased away good people. More importantly, people that were responsible for Markel's financial success. Replacements do not have good experience and have a history much different than Markel, particularly regarding profits.
