Great company culture. Actuarial is a hard-working team, well respected by UW. A lot of work to go around. You get exposed to both pricing and reserving for your lines, and there is always ad-hoc type work too. Management respects employee work-life balance, burn-out is relatively uncommon. Fairly standard actuarial student program.

Cons

Zero severance for PIP termination. This came particularly hard as the Markel style #214 gives emphasis to employees being a family.
