Going to Marotta was initially a really exciting step for me. I came on as a contractor with the agreement of coming on full time after 6 months at the same salaried rate. I fully bought into the work and the company. I put in 60-70 hour weeks regularly, never asked for any reimbursement on the thousands of miles i had to drive for offsite testing or logged in overtime because i saw this as part of my responsibilities.
Then when it came time convert me to a contractor, i heard nothing for 2 months. I was then finally given an offer that was a 30% salary cut and told i had a week to accept or decline. During this time i was not interviewing or even looking at other companies because i had this narrative in my mind that the hard work i put into the company would be rewarded. I didn't even get a warning that I should expect a salary cut, or the decency to receive this reduced offer at the 6 month mark. They dragged it out until 8 months where I had no options.
During my time here, my team won an internal award for launching a product. The team of 8 got a $400 prize, so $50 each ($50 = probably 250 hours of cumulative overtime on the programs life, thanks guys). At the time i was still a contractor and they held onto the $50 prize as if it was a $350k bonus i was missing out on. My team was 8 people. There were 2 recent grads (myself and someone else), one mid level engineer and then some older folks with families. The 2 recent grads left, and I know of 2 others in an adjacent group who were actively interviewing.
This company is terrible because they don't care. I saw it again and again. When there was a data hack, the employees were told that it was their fault. No one found out if banking information was taken, or given any further information on the nature of the hack. I dont know if the clients were told, probably not.
Look anywhere else, look at their competitors like Moog, look on your school's career website, or under a bridge for loose aluminum you can sell for scrap metal. This company is terrible and they're going to use you until you get fed up and quit.
