Pros

Fun, caring, goal-oriented, hard-working, and tenacious crew. Nightly wrap-up staff meetings before punching out for the day to discuss long term and short term goals of the store, as well as the greater district area. We discussed areas of progress and improvement, as well as areas in need of improvement - generally boosting morale and team spirit. Managers worked just as hard as associates on the floor as well as behind the scenes. We kept our particular Marshalls location as tidy and spotless as possible, even in times of Canadian tour busses around the holidays. An impressive sight, really, but my staff was fun loving and hardworking, so it wasn't bad!

Cons

It's retail. In any retail position you're often unable to fully choose your own hours, and holidays are generally at least somewhat chaotic due to the dramatic surplus of customers, HOWEVER, this is to be expected. If you are willing to put forth the energy and effort yourself, and if you work with a strong crew of people, then this is hardly an issue.

Pros

Company fiscally sound. Value/merchandise plentiful to customers. Peers are nice and supportive.

Cons

Direction ever changing and expected to meet everything at a moments notice which is unrealistic. Mgrs are unprofessional and gossip among themselves and spread lies about each other. Very tough company to work for as communication is sparse. No work balance just what you can get out of people.

Pros

Flexible with hours, once you work for the company for at least 5 years you incur better part time benefits, many incentives to reach goals.

Cons

Like most companies post 2008, Marshalls ended up cutting many great benefits to its workforce, forced many employees to go part time, decreased amount of employees able to share in health benefits. Marshalls also shifted its model to get more work out of its short term employees.
