Lots of freedom and excellent technology, but very poor management
Pros
Marvell has many different business units and technologies, some of them are edge and leading technologies. Different business units may have different culture. The company is very open for innovation and has some exceptional engineers. In some business units, if you work hard and you are a great technologist, you will be promoted quickly and can get to high levels in very short time. If you are good in organizational politics and can make the high management to like you, you can go high and fast here. But beware, you may find yourself out with no notice if high management suddenly dislikes you.
Cons
Highest management is living in an alternate reality - the CEO micromanage the entire company, including hiring (one example out of many - he signs every job offer for the last 7-8 years, which means it takes months to give one, and therefore the company looses almost all good candidates due to length of hiring process). The CEO and his wife, the president, behave like they are royalty that always knows what is right, and you must comply or... The CEO thinks he is (technology wise) smarter than anyone else. The president thinks she is one of the best business woman in the planet. While they are both very smart and talented in these fields, both of them are very wrong. If this company was managed by professional managers, it could have been 100 times bigger as the technology, and people, are amazing. After many years of such micro-management, there is almost no good low and middle management, and the company all depends on a single person making all decisions - the CEO. This makes some parts of this company impossible to work at, and some other parts very free and great place to prove yourself.
