      Great engineering, so-so marketing, lousy HR

      Pros

      Very competent engineering groups. Engineering managers tend to be technically savvy unlike some other companies. Low level of politics at least within engineering. Fast moving projects - get to learn a lot. Very dedicated people working together.

      Cons

      Long hours and sometimes unreasonable schedules. Lack of management appreciation on effort people put in. No visibility on what is happening even 6 months from now.

      Not a place to grow your career

      Pros

      Benefits are better than at other companies - health insurance coverage is pretty good, and there are a lot of extra perks that other companies don't provide (free food, free use of on-site gym, etc)

      Cons

      Management promotes within themselves or family members. There is no visibility to understanding the future or vision of the company. The company grew too fast in a short amount of period, it still runs like a startup when it shouldn't be. Everything is so secretive - there is no org chart so it's difficult to understand people's roles & responsibilities and how to best communicate/work with them, or who to contact when you have a question.

      The only good reason I can think of is if a person wants to grow technically strong & develop a good pace at work & then the person should move on

      Cons

      Complete lack of confidence right from the CEO to the management team for the employees. Just asking for a laptop/VPN to work from home is just too much !!! Trust me in spite of begin in the heart of silicon valley you don't get the opportunity to work from home!!! Lack of transparency. There is absolutely no visibility into the road map/direction of the product line. There is no visibility in the basic organization, its the first time I've seen a company does not show a organizational hierarchy chart. Any decision from the upper management just comes in as a surprise without any intimation.
