      OK place to work, but need a lot of improvement

      Pros

      You get to work on new technologies and ideas. There is a lot of potential to come forward and be stood out. There is a lot of areas that need improvement and hence it is easy to identify and choose areas that you would like to improve at Marvell.

      Cons

      The hours are long and there is constant pressure of getting things done, not necessarily in an orderly manner. The processes are not very well organized and need a lot of improvement. The environment is very secretive and more communication from the management might be very helpful. Everyone complains about compensation, but Marvell really needs to work in this area.

      Good to be an engineer, bad management

      Pros

      It is possible to work with a lot of different technologies. The facilities are good. The offices in Santa Clara are very nice. There is free food (breakfarst / lunch / dinner, fruit and snacks and there is a coffee bar). There is a positive atmosphere. It is a good place to be an engineer - the company is very engineering driven.

      Cons

      Managers play favorites. There are a lot of politics going on among management - a lot of blaming and finger pointing. Long hours are expected. The schedules are not realistic. You often will only get time to "get it done" not "do it right". The pay is below average. The benefits are average - it all depends how the stock is doing.

      Marvell needs a radical change in executive management

      Pros

      Free food, it's a job in a terrible economy and not much sexism. Management does try to hire the best engineers possible. Very strong technically

      Cons

      Management expects 16 hour work days seven days a week. Meetings are scheduled saturdays, evenings - there is little or no respect for employees personal time. Upper management's ability to run a large company is dubious at best - lack of professional executive management Too much nepotism It's a constant state of fear because of the crazy way upper management makes decisions. The company's reputation is terrible - I find it embarassing to say i work there.
