Building relationships with students, helping the students achieve their goals,
Cons
Management, lack of communication, cliques, veteran staff are held to higher standards than newer staff, some administrators seem to throw their staff under the bus and play the blame game, work environment is inconsistent- can be wonderful at times and toxic other times, low pay, high staff turnover. has potential to be a great workplace if management were held to the same standards as staff (and were held accountable for their actions, or lack of response)
Great kids, some great staff, follows school calendar
Cons
The biggest problem here is that they cannot hire enough people to fill all the positions. Therefore, many of the people they hire are just bodies they shove in classrooms. The staff members who are supposed to train new hires are incompetent and lazy. Turnover rate is extremely high. Many of the newer aides hired are unprofessional and uncaring. Teachers are expected to teach these aides how to “behave” while also planning lessons, writing IEP’s, and of course teaching. If you have a problem with an aide, supervisors expect you to take care of it on your own. Aides can come late, speak rudely to students, be on their phones and will get no more than a slap on the wrist. Of course who you are friends with matters. If you are friends with the right higher ups, you will be treated better. Classrooms are run understaffed but the supervisors think nothing of adding more students to a classroom making it an unsafe environment and not within the ratio the IEP of the students calls for. Your pay is less than a district. Funny how this not for profit can’t pay aides and teachers well while the CEO makes over 150K a year! (Anyone can look up tax returns for non-profits). Teachers have to do mindless paperwork that districts don’t make their employees do. Staff who have our many years into the organization are the least appreciated. They are taken for granted and assumed they will stay forever. When staff do leave they are not thanked for their dedication, just treated like dirt and told they cannot use MCCC for recommendations. HR is a joke. If you do apply expect to wait a very long time for a reply if you get one at all.
