Pros

Middle management and below are typically really great people. Middle managers could easily do the jobs of the higher-ups with half the people.

Cons

"Way too many chiefs, and a handful of Indians" as the saying goes. There were 3 people that the director of my department reported to and it was never consistent. When big changes came, they would fly all three into our office to meet with our director. Wasted money on pointless things while turning down a lot of raises. Nickle and dimed overtime and it had to be requested in advance. Pay was considerably lower than similar jobs. You will work OT and not get paid for it, bottom line. If you are salary plan on working 6/7 days a week. Ability to work from home is common because they know they can have you working at 8pm on a Sunday. The threat to fire you is always there and you are never safe. The company policy to lay people off is the day of, no severance package at all (doesn't matter how long you've been an employee). HR department is honestly the biggest joke I've experienced in my life. Upper management are pawns to higher-ups, everyone is expendable. Good luck using your PTO, they don't have to let you use it and you do not get compensated in anyway if you do not use it by the end of the year (10 days total - prorated). Demand everything discussed in your hiring interview in writing. They will lie to you about many things and you will have no recourse if it was not in writing. Organizational structure is very bad. Higher ups from all over the organization can task you with their jobs, an example was a manager from the transportation department tasking me with maintaining a spreadsheet of company vehicles with maintenance logs etc (I was across the country in a completely different division). Every time you turn around something changes. I would highly advise anyone wanting stable employment and career growth to look elsewhere. The benefits they flaunt aren't even usable for the first 60-90 days.
