You do not want to work here, trust me

Pros

Good stepping stone into certain careers like HR if you know how to correctly list it in your resume and can suck it up and be miserable for a little while

Cons

Unfortunately the culture of Partners HealthCare is one of entitlement and competitiveness within your own team. Managers don’t support their employees (they simply want you to kill yourself doing 60 hrs a week with no appreciation just so their department looks good for those in a leadership role). People in your own department will sneak behind your back and whisper to your manager that you’re doing a bad job but will pretend like you are to your face. HR Generalists are literally there for show: their in cahoots with the managers and never take the employees side if they have an issue (the whole point of an HR Generalist is to be able to have a support when you’re going through rough patches at work but all they do is go behind your back and talk to your manager about your complaints and all of a sudden your workload doubles) oh and let me not forget, they underpay their employees and the few opportunities that arise for promotion, Partners will rather higher from outside the company than to promote from within. This place likes to make it seem like their amazing on the outside but once you’re inside, good luck. The doctors and the highly compensated employees are able to bend the rules and get whatever they want while the lower compensated employees suffer. The director of my department once said in a meeting that we should be looking to see who were speaking to in order to triage it appropriately and possibly expedite their request. Basically she was saying look to see if their “important” in their eye so we could make sure they got what they wanted. So like I said if you’re willing to temporarily be miserable just so you can put on your resume that you worked there by all means go but if you have any type of morals you probably won’t like it there.

OK, but Cons are growing

Pros

Overall, OK place to work, but list of cons has been growing each year.

Cons

Biggest Cons: Pay raises are below most Cost of Living rates of increase and the benefits have been steadily decreasing every year. Management constantly complains company is not profitable, but company is supposedly a "Non-Profit"...

Pros

Great team and intra-team culture. Fully remote positions. Great systems and tools to do your job. Supportive immediate managers

Cons

Senior management severely undervalues the contribution the contracting team makes to the entire institution (the same can be said for all of Research Management). Benefits have been significantly cut. PTO all comes from a single pool - all of you vacation, sick, personal days AND federal holidays are all pulled from the same pool (start at 25 days and 8 of those days are eaten up by federal holidays). High volume with pressure execute agreements faster - to keep it in check you do need to work longer hours (more than a standard 40hr week). So while work life balance is advocated across the system, the system is setup for failure on that front. Stress is high. Turnover is high - constantly in coverage or training mode.
