      - Base Compensation - Very poor middle management from Directors to VPs - Promotions are based on who you know - A lot of terrible people - Technology

      Pros

      Mastercard is full of opportunity. If you are a high performer, you will be compensated and advanced. There is no limit to what you are able to accomplish or take on. It's a great company for type A individuals and overachievers. Leadership is inspiring and there is so much training and education available.

      Cons

      Every year they have cuts and layoffs. You could be a stellar employee, but if they decide to cut your position and you don't request a move in advance, you could be out. You have to be very active in making sure you are valuable.

      - Good benefits, great 401k - Good leadership and vision - Management truly wants good things for employees (e.g. announcing no layoffs during the pandemic in 2020 gave everyone the peace of mind about their job despite their situation at home) - Lots of great people working on interesting things - Ability to move around is based on your own networking;

      Cons

      - Employees who have been with the company 5+ years are underpaid, and salaries do not keep up with market conditions - Moving up can be quite difficult, but lateral moves are encouraged to gain broader experience - Culture varies by group, some managers and group leaders can be back-stabby or have different unspoken policies that don't align to top line leadership
