It's the best place to work if you are among the chosen few

Pros

It was a great place to work when Sam was running the company.

Cons

A number of really good people have left because of the toxic culture. If you are not tight with a certain senior leader you become invisible and all of your ideas are belittled in meetings. What is worse, is your ideas are then presented later as this great new idea without giving you credit. It is classic sexism. And it happened to me, people before me, and is still happening. I held out for as long as I could hoping that a female CEO wouldn't put up with it, but apparently she does not care. Don't work there. The atmosphere will impact you whether you experience the abuse firsthand or witness it happening to your co-workers. It is a shame that this is still happening.

Some ups, but more downs.

Pros

There's a portfolio of over 45 brands under the match umbrella, so it's fun to work across different sites. There are also great in-office perks. Fun summer party experience. Great work/life balance.

Cons

It's more about personality than work at match; If upper management doesn't like you for whatever reason, they'll prevent you from getting raises and promotions. Upper management also tends to hold onto grudges and doesn't give employees proper room to grow or change. Mid-year reviews and end-of-year reviews mean basically nothing, because everything is at the discretion of upper management rather than someone's direct manager. The office is also too quiet. You would think from a cool place like match that it would be upbeat and positive, but it's not. It's so quiet that you can hear a pin drop from across the room. People at match are quick to give negative feedback and criticism and slow to give positive reinforcement. The other problem is that many people who are in manager roles are not people people, even though it's a people centered business. Match has values which they claim are important, but they really don't seem to matter much and don't seem to be taken into account with anything. Accountability? Out the window. Candor? Don't you dare. Grit? Good luck. Passion? Doesn't really matter since management either likes you or not. Collaboration? Sometimes. Rethink? Nope.

Pros

Branding experience was valuable. The job itself wasn't involved much in "match making" although the company was "love-centric" and that was pleasant to be around.

Cons

They hired me for my expertise in affiliate management area , but I was faced with red tape at every attempt to improve the program and actually execute my area of knowledge. Was expected to be a data-monkey as their internal systems/reporting are not built for affiliate management. Marketing & Affiliate Management are two different things and I wish someone , including my radically conservative former boss (TX based) would have known that before hiring me , especially in a remote position. This is a corporation built best for those who willingly appreciate and embrace drinking the company OJ, and not for outside thinkers or innovators. I gave this company 5 stars for career opportunities, as it seems to always be a revolving door. Good luck!
