Pros
- Culture and core values are taken seriously - Colleagues are team-oriented and work with integrity - Feedback up the chain is heard and follow-on actions tend to be taken to create change for the better - Working with MATLAB on a near-daily is awesome (for a technical person like me) - Getting to travel locally and/or fly for on-site customer visits is often a fun adventure (fun locations, meeting interesting new people, etc) - Free lunch on days we go into the office (3 days, weekly) - MathWorks loves processes for its internal workings; this is very important for having clear, robust, and organized internal pipelines that keep a large organization working efficiently with minimal friction
Cons
- Administrative tasks can be a distraction to technical people who add most value by being deep in the technical aspect of the MathWorks software/tools - MathWorks loves processes for its internal workings; but there can be such a thing as too many processes - occasionally resulting in unintended friction and slow change
