Pros

-Consistently a leader in its class -Financially healthy -Great work/life balance -Fun parties -Young company

Cons

-Atrocious pay compared to regional market -Zero and I mean zero transparency -If you're not an engineer or developer, you're a commodity -Little to no advancement potential (salary or responsibility) for "S level" (service) positions - Revenue Accounting and Controls, Customer Service, Sales Support (Account Management) -Micromanagement in the extreme (President/CEO approving remote work requests and pricing discounts) -Account Management is sales support, plain and simple. -Customer Service is traditional CS, and Revenue Accounting and Controls is simply a glorified data entry and AR collections position. If you have a finance degree, and accounting degree, or an MBA you should *absolutely* not be spending your time in such a position. The people are great but you are wasting your time and valuable years of your early professional career. I understand people joining between 2007 and 2011 due to the economy but at this point, you're hurting your career advancement and severely handicapping your career advancement potential.

Pros

Balanced work environment with plenty of very capable people who are smart and passionate about MathWorks products and services. Campus gets better every year. For those who earn the right, there is plenty of limited autonomy. There are many other places to work, but few are as stable or secure. Wonderful suite of benefits and bonuses.

Cons

Insanely complex and painful review process that wastes enormous amounts of time that unfortunately has a minimal return on investment. There are significant limits on management's decision making authority as almost everything involves over-engineered processes and approvals.

Pros

Great pay for the Boston area. Great software processes that lends itself to very high quality. Amazing in-house build system that automatically builds your code across many different platforms. Outstanding release management system and team. Excellent automated test framework that distributes testing across the company servers. Super-star engineers throughout the company. Great culture. Good chance of getting your own office. Insanely amazing benefits, including 100% up to 6% 401k match! Great bonus program. Good vacations.

Cons

Private company, so no stocks. Health insurance co-pay could be lower. Extremely limited tele-commuting policy. Can feel bureaucratic at times. Traditionally hired only engineers and only recently started hiring computer science grads, which means that some of the older code is not coded up as well as it could have.
