Pros

The atmosphere is great, The work is rewarding, The shifts are not extremely long, You learn teaching and communication skills, It's fun to assess a student's skills and see what's right for them

Cons

The compensation is okay, Private tutors make much more, Kids can be very difficult to motivate, Sometimes it seems like you are doing a lot of work while other instructors aren't

Teaching math the Mathnasium way helped me sharpen my own math skills--both students and tutors benefit!

Cons

Sad to see that some of the older tutors with post-graduate degrees were not getting paid what they are worth.
