Pros

They offer okay pay and benefits and obviously the opportunity to work remotely.

Cons

I presume that the employee turnover rate is high, because I was hired for this position with no interview which is always a bad sign. Training staff is rude and unhelpful, discourages questions and talks to new hire staff as if they are incomprehensible children in a classroom. They do not have a clock in system, you essentially are accountable for keeping track of your own hours and completing your own timesheet everyday. If you are more than 3 minutes late from a break, you will not be paid for that time. You cannot deviate from scripts in the slightest or QA will deduct points, you must sound confident at all times and if you do not, QA will deduct points. Numerous systems and log-in information to remember and apparently even if you are hired on as a permanent Maximus employee, you are liable still be let go at the end of the contract which is less than a year long. I've worked for a few different call centers and this is by far the worst. There is no culture, no opportunities for advancement or pay increase, no transparency. When you picture a drab, grey, soul sucking call center job...picture this organization. I think it may be a decent company for those in higher roles such as managers and supervisors, QA, HR, etc., but if you are a customer service representative this likely won't be an amazing experience for you.

Pros

Full time. Crap benefits and poor compassion

Cons

When I first started with Maximus as a career coach collaboration and serving the clients was held as a important. As the project ramped up each case manager exprienced changes in policy and procedure that made day to day work impossible to do. Interaction with clients became less about helping them and more about triplicate documentation. They promise relief but as time passed the more policy and procedure changed. Management stopped appreciating the hard work that career coaches where doing and more about mirco management. As Maximus struggled meeting contractor expectations the more work load was placed on the career coaches instead of 70 cases a month i left with 389. Management didnt provide solutions or listened as far as problems with in processes or when career coaches exprienced difficultly in managing that many cases. It was basically this what it is and sorry but the requirements are going to change again. I simply couldnt keep up. I went from a top employee to the unemployment line due to the sheer amount of work. maximus does not care abouts employees or really the clients they serve. They only care about the bottom line. You are nothing but a cogg in the wheel

An HR Rep's Worst Nightmare

Pros

Very good entry introduction to various disciplines (HR, Call Center, Management). Most positions are hired from within, so if you perform, there is a chance you can move up into leadership roles.

Cons

The quality of experience vastly depends on what project and department you work in. Leadership is disjointed and often biased. Many departments like HR are desperately understaffed and do not have the resources they need to address the scope of problems within all of the projects. Salaries are also extremely uneven and the hardest workers are often under-appreciated and paid the least, while those who should be let go are kept on and given a higher salary. Policies enforced unevenly across projects. Those with good intentions who wish to address all of the inconsistencies in policies, rumors of favoritism, and complaints of unfair work environments, are at high risk of burn out as they are going up against an entire line of management set in their ways.
