Pros

Not that I am aware of

Cons

I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking a healthy work environment, competitive compensation, or genuine career advancement. Many employees remain stuck in the same roles for years, receiving only minimal annual increments of around 1% to 3%, which does little to motivate teams. It is also discouraging to see newly hired employees with significantly less experience placed in higher positions, while long-standing team members who have contributed extensively to program success continue to be overlooked. The overall workplace environment suffers from persistently low morale. Many employees appear exhausted and burned out, yet there seems to be minimal effort from management to meaningfully improve the culture or address ongoing concerns. Open communication is limited, and employees rarely feel recognized or appreciated for the effort they put into their work. Compensation is another significant drawback. Salaries are noticeably below industry standards, and there are no meaningful bonus structures to reward performance. While many companies in the industry offer bonuses in the range of 20% to 30%, MAXIMUS historically offered only about 5% to 6%. More recently, that modest bonus was simply absorbed into base pay and the bonus structure was eliminated altogether. Given the heavy workload and constant pressure, the compensation does not align with the demands placed on employees. If you live in a place which has high cost of living & work remote, they do not consider the pay scale of that place, but only consider you as a remote employee. While the company presents itself as a large IT organization, in reality it functions primarily as a consulting vendor supporting various federal and state programs, often while offering relatively modest compensation compared to industry standards.
