      Pros

      Overall McCarthy is a good company. The more established divisions are the best though. It seems like the new divisions are still struggling to build a good working environment and strong leadership.

      Cons

      It seems like there is a lack for experienced staff. Promotions are not taken as seriously as they should, and therefore relationships with Owners and Subcontractors are ruined by the inexperienced. Also, there is a huge turnover for Superintendents, this is due to the crazy work hours they are asked to commit to. Most of the McCarthy mentality does not include work-life balance.

      Pros

      Decent pay, fantastic benefits. Large company has the capability to move you to new locations or into new construction types. Employee ownership

      Cons

      Work life balance is way off. Consistently work 60hrs/week. On smaller jobs with smaller staff sizes, the hours got up to 70+.

      The ESOP was fantastic, CEO was genuine and down to earth, could openly communicate with anyone in the chain of command.

      Cons

      Responsibilities not clearly defined, emphasis on promoting people without ensuring people are ready for the role
