Pros

Working at McDonald's is a good way to get experience. Alot of other jobs students are looking for require some amount of experience so this is a good way to get some. You also get to learn how to work in a fast paced environment. Discounts on food is nice as well. Watch out that you don't eat too much or else you'll be packing on the pounds.

Cons

The work is hard. The pay is minimum. Girls don't particularly like guys that work at McDonalds. Gaining excess weight from all the french fries and big macs that your consume over the years is definitely a downside.

Pros

Needed a job as a teenager to save up for post secondary school. McD's helped me to develop some solid interpersonal and team work skills. Usually working in a fast paced environment also improved my abilities to make quick decisions. They also had a contest for essay writing in which the winner was rewarded a tuition scholarship. I never participated, but thought it was a pretty cool idea. Food was also offered at a 50% discount for all employees which came in handy during breaks. The freedom to specify available work hours was also helpful in managing a schedule that worked with studies.

Cons

Not much room for growth unless you wanted to be a store manager, but then again, most people don't really start working at the restaurants with big hopes of moving up the ladder. The uniforms were a bit uncomfortable, especially during longer shifts. Lobby shifts were horribly boring and usually given out to newer crew memebers as grunt work. 50% discount also adds weight.

Pros

The best reason to work at McDonald's is the other employees. They are all around your age, so you get along really well most of them (always some bad ones). The second best reason to work at McDonalds would probably be the casual nature of the job, which when you are a student - is really good. The work is also pretty easy, though monotonous.

Cons

By far, the biggest downside about working at McDonald's would be dealing with the customers. The vast majority of customers are alright, but occasionally you get some really hard ones, though thats more indicative of the clientele McDonald's serves.
