Excellent Company at Crucial Transition Point

Pros

At Medable, I worked on a phenomenally talented and hard-working team with an excellent support system and strong leadership. As time went on, top levels of leadership overcommitted the company to extremely tough deliverables without shoring up issues with internal delivery and support. As a result, the ability to function at a high level suffered and the job became more difficult and impossible at times.

Cons

- Long work hours - Differing goals between divisions - Technical debt in internal tooling

Pros

Amazing talented and empathetic colleagues who have a real drive to succeed for the good of the patients we're all working to help. Some fantastic industry experience who are will to share information and coach those around them. We all work hard as is the nature of a business in this phase of it's life, but it's rewarding work.

Cons

It's hard work. We're big enough to get stuff done, but small enough that we all need to muck in and get things done, so it can be long hours.... but we are rewarded well for our efforts.

Culture eats everything

Pros

The phenomenal culture. As expected in a company at this stage of growth, things change quickly but the fantastic culture that permeates across the organisation enables everyone to remain focused on the mission. It's firmly rooted in trust and enables true autonomy in how you get your work done. Having been with Medable for just over a year, I've been continuously impressed with how forward thinking their approach to work is; whether that's with the remote first way of working or with the great benefits - something that isn't usual at a life sciences focused company. Everyone I have worked with is deeply focused on the mission and has contributed to making Medable a leader in the DCT space. I am incredibly lucky to work with some amazing people - little surprise when it's such a great place to work.

Cons

There could be better communication from leadership as priorities shift and strategies change. It's understandable that this will happen at this stage of growth but more proactive communication would help continue to build trust. If you're someone that is looking for a wealth of detailed processes, a high level of bureaucracy and are not comfortable with ambiguity, this is not the place for you. Things move rapidly but there is plenty of opportunity to contribute effectively, across all levels.
