Pros

You will get a paycheck and you won't have to think about your job on your offtime or be very stressed while on the job. You will also have to rarely use your thinking processes or intelligence while on the job.

Cons

Lack of competent management, unclear goals, insincere communications. Inability to advance or get recognition, extremely low pay, non-existent raises, frustrated and depressed co-workers; ancient computer equipment/facilities/methodologies.

A sinking ship

Pros

The company was flexible with remote work. If you're a young reporter you'll get a chance to do a bit of everything, but you will be asked to work long hours for low pay with little respect.

Cons

Weak management Low pay with high turnover Continual budget cuts Interference in editorial independence The company has been going downhill for some time now and is a shell of its former self. Not only did we not have the time and resources to report the news effectively, management seemed to care more about advertising revenue than actually serving the community.

Pros

They will hire anyone willing to work for them so you don’t need much experience.

Cons

The company does not give annual performance reviews or raises. Company just bought Tribune Publishing and will be integrating positions which will add more work to Shared Service employees for same pay. Alden Capital which owns Medianews Group is again getting rich and the employees doing the work don’t get a penny more.
