Friendly place to work, high stress

Pros

Independence and creative control over your work. Friendly co-workers and relaxed culture. Many reviews mentioned lack of direction from management but this has improved and the company hierarchy is much more well-defined now.

Cons

Even new developers will be responsible for large projects or managing changes that directly affect clients in critical ways. There is a lot of pressure sometimes on you as an individual.

Pros

Great place to learn. Job security. Positive culture with regards to helping new hires and answering questions. Work-from-home and remote working are built-in to the company. Aggressively hiring.

Cons

The pay is towards the bottom of the range for many developer positions. Sizable profits and growth don't seem to impact worker pay. There are bonuses and commission, but they do not offset the low pay.

Pros

The developers whom, are still there, know how to properly maintain a 30+ year old project. Great code maintenance.

Cons

You will get paid in peanuts. Only a few developers have salaries that match or exceed the average. You will not make anything more than 50k unless the CEO finds that the product can not survive w/o you. Questionable ethics in regards to the return of certain employees with news-worthy skeletons in the closet.
