Pros

It is a growing business, so there is opportunity for upward and lateral movement within the company. Free lunch every day is always a plus, management is sensitive to personal issues.

Cons

Too many layers of management, the CRA managers have too much control over responsibilities that are supposed to be related to the CTM. Your experience is strongly dictated on your manager, if you have a laid back understanding manager you will be fine but if your manager is strict it will not be enjoyable for you. There are drastic pay differences for the same job that they justify although it does not always make sense. (20k pay differences for the same work) You are very expendable as a CRA because they hire often and in large quantities.

Pros

1. Free salad in lunch: You get healthy by eating healthy lunch. 2. Laid back culture: Good for someone who has spent years working hard and wants to rest for few years.

Cons

1. Hire and Fire Policy: Company hires in batches and fires roughly 65% (2 out of 3) before completion of 6 months. 2. Laid back training: There is training for beginners, but it is a laid back training. Beginners do the training for months that could be easily completed in few weeks. 3. Growth: The growth prospects are really low in company. 4. Insurance: Too expensive; 5. Benefits: Practically nothing if you leave the company in less than two years.

Pros

New office, generous travel policy, face to face familiarity with staff in most applicable departments, CRA training program is thorough and accessible even for those with no CRO experience.

Cons

Compensation significantly lower than industry standard even including travel bonus, travel bonus based on several stipulations - have seen several CRAs fired just before travel bonus distribution time for vague reasons, home office for CRAs only an option after 1 year but still must attend in-office meetings on average 2-3 days/month, not uncommon to be on 2-3 studies with 15+ sites as an experienced CRA as there are many trained, inexperienced CRAs hanging around the office that sponsors will not allow to work on their studies. Management circle is small and can be very one-sided. Non-compete agreement is used as a scare tactic.
