My pharmacy manager was an amazing pharmacist that really cared for his patients. The work environment in the pharmacy was diverse and inclusive.

Awful place to work

Pros

Paycheck keeps me from starving

Cons

Pretty much everything else. "Team leads" have absolutely no idea what they're doing, are unavailable and are typically found in a back office or in the backroom talking rather than helping in their respective departments or defusing situations with customers that require managerial input. Store is union so none of the bad workers will ever be fired. I've literally seen coworkers get in swearing, screaming matches with each other, management, and customers with zero consequences. Coworkers regularly tell management that they aren't going to do aspects of their job because they don't want to, with zero consequences. If you have a good work ethic this will be pushed off onto you. There is no reward for hard or competent work here unless you are friends with or related to management. Food items that are spoiled or been recalled stay on the floor for purchase because employees don't care and again, management is absent. Working here is the definition of "the blind leading the blind". We are always understaffed, out of supplies, frazzled, and in chaos. If it wasn't for Covid-19 (we don't enforce the mask mandate for that either, despite being in michigan) I would have already left and found a new job. Working here is a nightmare.

Poor Management

Pros

Insurance, and benefits, union representation.

Cons

Management is lack luster. All about the "meijer way," will lie to you time and time again and lie if and when they're caught. Scheduling is poor. They schedule as few people as humanly possible, and expect everyone to work like dogs, doing the work or 2 or 3 people, with no management help or support.
