Pros

You can get benefits, though you have to pay for them. You can qualify for some paid vacation after a year of employment Most positions are part of the UAW Based on your hours accumulated you get raises The company has a scholarship you can apply for to use toward your education after working for a year 10% discount on general merchandise There is room to advance if you are looking to stay for a long time The scheduling is generally flexible around your availability, making it possible to work two jobs or go to school.

Cons

No discount on grocery items or health & beauty The advancement opportunities, at least in the service department, only offer a $.25 raise if you get promoted to t service coordinator position and that is not worth the extreme hassle and stress of the position. Holidays in retail are stressful You are expected to work holidays and most weekends

Pros

The best reasons to work here is that because it is unionized it opens up job opportunities for all different types of individuals. I was a young adult woman working with people in high school to retired men and women and all of them were friendly and pleasant to work with. They train you very well. My manager was very accommodating of my unexpected schedule being a busy college student and when I quit he offered to rehire me if I needed work in the future.

Cons

People don't always do their fair share of work and the more hard working people have to work extra hard to make up for it, so workload can be unbalanced. Try to over-schedule you if you don't stay on top of your hours.
